This towering 7-tier sand-colored confection was designed for the desert wedding of The Knot site director Anja Winnika & Ben Bullington in Tucson, Arizona.
The inspiration behind the cake design was the beautiful array of colors used on the hand painted custom invitation created by the talented CECI NY. Brightly colored hand-made sugar flowers in shades of oranges, hot pinks, yellows, corals and minty green foliage nicely complemented the outdoor reception.
Our challenge was to transport the cake from Cheshire, CT to JF Kennedy Airport and fly it to Tucson Arizona. The wedding cake required setup on location, just before the start of the reception to avoid the heat (it was 100 degrees Fahrenheit) melting the delicate and temperature-sensitive fillings consisting of bittersweet ganache and raspberry mousseline between layers of buttery pound cake infused with Grand Marnier.
We successfully completed the setup of this quite tall wedding cake and were happy to see that the bride & groom loved it!
